University of Maine at Farmington students Kelsey Ottman and Liz Dunn get a push Sunday as they attempt another run down the hill at the amphitheatre on campus in a sled made of sustainable materials. The event, sponsored by student members of the Sustainable Campus Coalition at UMF, awarded prizes for the best recyclable, most compact, the fastest sled and most creative idea of recycling materials for a sled.
A variety of student-designed cardboard sleds and other unique vehicles competed Sunday as student members of the Sustainable Campus Coalition at the University of Maine at Farmington sponsored a recyclable sled race at the amphitheatre on campus. Pictured are some participants with sleds made of cardboard taped to a snowboard, sleds of flattened cardboard, the most compact — the smallest boxes — and half a chair re-used as a sled seat.
