BOSTON – Senior Kailey Bubier of Auburn scored at 2:02 of overtime to give the University of Southern Maine Huskies a 3-2 victory over the University of Massachusetts Boston Beacons in

Playing in her 100th career game for the Huskies, Bubier picked up her first game-winning goal of the season when she found a loose puck in front of UMB sophomore goaltender Kailyn Burke  and put a shot past her for an unassisted goal.  The goal was the second of the game for Bubier and her team-leading eighth of the season.

Despite being out shot 28-6 in the game, the Huskies made the most of their offensive chances.  Bubier gave USM a 1-0 lead early in the second period potting her seventh goal of the season off an assist from junior Shannon Cronin.

Women’s basketball

CMCC 80, Hampshire College 20

AUBURN — Chanel Chillers scored 20 points and Corrie Kinder helped out with 10 as Centeral Maine Community College decimated Hampshire College, 80-20, in a the women’s YSCC basketball tournament Friday night.

The Mustangs dished out 16 assists and had only five turnovers.

CMCC will face rival Southern Maine Community College on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the quarterfinal round.

SMCC 66, VTC 56

AUBURN — Nyalieb Deng scored 20 points and Tianna Burton added 15 as Southern Maine Community Colleged knocked down Vermont Technical College with a 66-56 victory in the second basketball game of the YSCC Women’s Elite on Friday.

Alicia Hoyt and Yaritza Tejada both reached double digits, scoring 14, and 11 points, respectively. Kelley Vellek led VTC with 21 points and Baker chipped in with 15.

Capitalizing on the bonus situation and a tired VTC squad, the Seawolves used ball rotation and patience to wear down the Knights and take a 31-18 lead into halftime.

The Seawolves will play the winner of the Central Maine Community College-Hampshire College game on Sunday at 2 p.m.

NHTI 63, UMA 60

AUBURN —  Sara Romano scored 22 points and received help from Danielle Kimball and Allura Leblanc, who scored 18 and 17 points, respectively as New Hampshire Technical Institute slipped away with a 63-60 victory over the University of Maine at Augusta in the women’s YSCC basketball tournament Friday.

The teams traded baskets for the remainder of the second quarter, and the Moose capped it off with five straight points from Arreonte Lee (14 in the first half) to give UMA a 36-30 halftime lead.

Much like in the first half, the teams traded baskets and ground out the clock down until Maegan Cloutier knocked down two back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Moose a 53-52 advantage with 5 minutes remaining in the game.  But with a minute left, a brilliant feed from Jordan Phinney to Sara Romano for a 3-point basket allowed the Lynx to retake the lead at 61-58. Arreonte Lee answered back with a tough jumper from the corner and had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer but fell short.
