FARMINGTON — Franklin Memorial Hospital president and CEO Rebecca Ryder is hosting two sessions Wednesday on the emerging financial challenges the hospital is facing.

Health care is significantly impacted by the federal government’s fiscal difficulties, the continued stagnant economy, health care reform, and state budget woes. These factors and others are directly impacting FMH, according to a statement from the hospital.

Community business owners and leaders are invited to attend either of the sessions, which are from 7:30 to 9 a.m. or from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the Bass Room at the hospital. Breakfast and lunch are included in the respective sessions.

Franklin Memorial Hospital is a nonprofit organization that in the past fiscal year provided $6.7 million in charity care to patients and provided $58 million in salaries and benefits for the local economy. It was the first year in many that it operated at a fiscal loss.

The hospital employs more than 850 people.

Those planning to attend should contact Kathy Bryant at 779-2265 or e-mail: [email protected].
