FARMINGTON — Maine’s climate future is the topic of the fourth session in an investigative forum on climate change and the future being held at the University of Maine at Farmington.

Maine State Climatologist Dr. George Jacobson will address the topic during a session planned for noon Wednesday, Feb. 27, in Lincoln Auditorium of the Roberts Learning Center. The public is welcome to attend.

Extreme weather events over recent years have caused many to wonder if they are seeing the evidence of climate change. UMF is exploring that question and others through the university forum, “State of the Planet, Intergenerational Justice and Our Collective Future.”

Jacobson, professor emeritus of biology, ecology and climate change at the University of Maine, has been part of the Climate Change Institute since 1979 and served as its director for nearly a decade.

The Climate Change Institute is an interdisciplinary research center with approximately 50 scientists studying the causes and consequences of climate changes.
