LEWISTON — After Tuesday’s spring-like weather, New England is bracing for another round of wet, heavy snow Wednesday.
As of Tuesday evening, WGME’s Charlie Lopresti was forecasting 1 to 3 inches of snow for far southern Maine, and up to 15 inches throughout the interior. He said some rain is likely, too.
Auburn has announced a parking ban from 11 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Friday. Lisbon has issued a ban from noon Wednesday until noon Thursday.
Lopresti said that Lewiston should expect 6 to 10 inches of snow from this storm, primarily during the day on Wednesday.
“Ski country will get a solid 10 to 15,” Lopresti said. “But it will be wet.” The meteorologist said that while the ski areas should expect quite a bit of snow, it will not be the same quality as the powder they received from the blizzard.
Describing this storm as a slow-moving event, Lopresti said the Lewiston area can expect to see mostly snow in the day Wednesday with a mixture of snow and rain early Thursday and snow later in the day.
As for power outages, Lopresti said, “It’s possible, but I don’t think it will be extreme.” He added however, that this storm will come with wind.
Lopresti said he does not expect the pattern of storms to continue the way it has the past three weeks.
But forecasting can be dicey. “We always try to get as close as we can, but there are tricky ones,” Lopresti said, adding that the blizzard was the easiest storm this season to predict.
