OTISFIELD – The plan to move the Old Town Hall onto its new foundation Thursday has been delayed by at least a day.

Henry Hamilton, president of the Otisfield Historical Society, said Thursday that the latest word is the move will start Friday. The 1905 building on Bell Hill Road was moved to the side several weeks ago to have a foundation poured.

Hamilton said Dana Watson, the building mover from Naples, has indicated he hoped to get back to the site Friday to start the move.

“He said it is hard to know with any certainty but thinks that by Friday afternoon it will be moving over the foundation,” Hamilton said.

He said he assumed mud on the site may have played a part in why the move was delayed Thursday.

Hamilton said project general contractor Ken Bartow has indicated it may take two or three days for the entire move to be completed.

The building was deeded to the Otisfield Historical Society by voters in 2009, after it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

The society is restoring it to make it its headquarters, a repository for the town’s archives and a venue for town activities.
