WATERVILLE — Jordan Marino posted a hat trick to lead Thomas to a 13-2 win over the University of Maine at Farmington in the Terriers’ lacrosse season opener Sunday.
Senior Jesse Morkeski registered eight saves in recording the victory.
UMF’s goals came from TC Peters and Jake Linkletter, while net minder Ben Altmaier made eight saves in net for Beavers (0-2).

Colgate 5, Maine 3
CLEARWATER, Fla. — Maine dropped its Florida trip finale to Colgate of 5-3 on Sunday morning.
Jessica Burk, Katlin Norton and Makaila Kowalsky each had a hit and a RBI for the Black Bears.
Colgate started the scoring early as the Raiders jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the second, then broke it open with three in the third. Alexis Bogdanovich takes the loss for Maine after going 2.2 innings while giving up five runs, four earned, on six hits with three strikeouts. Beth Spoehr was sharp in relief as she tossed four innings of one hit shutout ball.

Farmingdale State 5, USM 1
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — Junior James Powers and freshman Alex Weingarten combined to limit the University of Southern Maine to just four hits as the Farmingdale State Rams handed the Huskies their first loss of the season, 5-1, in non-conference action Sunday.
The Huskies dropped to 3-1 on the season as veteran head coach Ed Flaherty was denied in his first opportunity to win his 800th career game. The Huskies get their next opportunity to give Flaherty his milestone victory on Thursday against Trinity College.
Powers, 3-1 on season, allowed the Huskies’ lone run in the first inning and then shut down the Huskies’ offense allowing only two singles after the opening inning.
Sophomore Michael Marino gave the Rams (6-8) the lead for good in the second when he scored on a squeeze bunt by junior Edward Bergmann.
Nick Grady drove in the lone USM run.
Maine splits doubleheader with Stony Brook
STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The University of Maine split a doubleheader with Stony Brook on Sunday, dropping the first game 7-1, then winning the second game, 8-3.
Mike Connolly picked up the victory in Game 2 for Maine (11-12), allowing two runs on four hits while fanning six in seven innings. Brian Doran and Alex Calbick had RBI doubles for the Black Bears.
Frankie Vanderka tossed a comple game for Stony Brook (6-12) in to pick up the win in Game 1.
