LEWISTON — Two 15-year-old boys were charged with arson Monday after a fire was set in a trash can at Lewiston High School, police said.

A school resource officer studied security video from the hallway outside the staff restroom and identified the two students.

They admitted to starting a fire in the trash can inside the restroom at about 1:30 p.m., police Lt. Michael McGonagle said Tuesday.

The fire was extinguished by a teacher and caused minimal damage, McGonagle said.
