FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners will begin review of a proposed $5.5 million budget for 2013-14 on Tuesday, beginning with program grants to organizations, economic development, and social service and educational agencies.
The proposal, if approved as is, is $214,501 more than the current budget and includes $1.6 million for the jail.
After about an estimated $580,600 in revenues is factored in, the cost to county taxpayers would be $4.9 million, which is $214,501 more than what was assessed for the current budget.
Budget review begins at noon April 2 at the commissioners office.
Commissioners will take up county government department requests at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, at the office.
Members of the Budget Advisory Committee will also be in attendance. They will hold a brief organizational meeting after commissioners finish their review on Wednesday.
