WILTON — A Temple man faces charges after he fled the scene when his van went off Thompson Street and struck a mailbox and several trees Saturday night, police Chief Heidi Wilcox said Monday.

Officer Billie Martin issued Blaine Berube, 20, summonses on misdemeanor charges of leaving the scene of a property damage accident and unsworn falsification. He is scheduled to appear July 10 at 12th District Court in Farmington.

Police responded to the accident off routes 2 and 4 on Burgess Hill at 10:49 p.m.

Berube was tracked down on Sunday after he reported the van stolen, Wilcox said.

The van had significant damage.
