LEWISTON — Kevin Lewis, CEO of Maine Community Health Options, recently announced that Shon Thompson has joined the organization as IT manager and database administrator.

MCHO is a nonprofit organization that will provide affordable health insurance to Maine people and small businesses beginning in January 2014. The enrollment start date for the plan is Oct. 1, 2013.

Thompson has more than 15 years of experience in the IT field, designing databases and applications. Prior to joining MCHO, he was the senior database administrator at Goold Health Systems, a national pharmacy benefits manager. Thompson has implemented drug rebate applications, and managed pharmacy and eligibility data for Medicaid and other managed-care organizations.

Thompson attended Arizona State University. He continues to complete supplementary technical courses to remain current on programming and database technology. He lives in Monmouth with his family and spends time coaching youth baseball.
