FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners Tuesday will consider the Budget Advisory Committee’s proposed $5.51 million spending plan for 2013-14.
The meeting begins at 9 a.m. June 4 in the commissioners’ office at the county courthouse.
The budget panel’s proposal is $14,866 more than the commissioners’ recommendation. It is $218,350 more than the current budget.
The budget committee made changes to its proposal a few days after a public hearing May 20. Members added to some accounts, and decreased others.
The budget contained a 2 percent wage increase in case commissioners vote to give employees a raise for the coming year. It also contained the 2 percent amount in the commissioners budget, but the budget panel eliminated a raise for part-time employees, including commissioners, in that account.
The committee also reduced amounts for some program grant requests.
In order to make changes to the budget committee’s proposal commissioners have to vote unanimously to do so.
Any changes will be sent back to the committee and in order to override commissioners’ recommendations, the budget panel may do so by a two-thirds vote of its membership. The resulting budget would be final.
