JAY — Resident Michael Schaedler, who has served on several town committees, said he is willing to be a write-in candidate to represent Jay on the RSU 73 school board.
There are two three-year positions on the board without candidates on the ballot for Tuesday. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Town Office.
Dan DiPompo and Tammy Dwinal-Shufelt, both original members of the Jay School Committee who were elected to serve on the consolidated RSU 73 Board of Directors in 2011, did not seek re-election.
A a third original Jay School Committee member, Mary Redmond-Luce, who was also elected to oversee the consolidated school system, resigned in late May. Selectmen will appoint someone to finish the remainder of her term.
In order for a write-in ballot to be counted, the name of the person has to be written in and a check placed in a box next to that name, Town Clerk Ronda Palmer said.
A person’s name cannot appear twice on the same ballot as a write-in, she said.
Schaedler served on the Jay School Committee prior to Jay consolidating with RSU 36 in Livermore and Livermore Falls on July 1, 2011.
Schaedler has also served on the Jay Budget Committee since 2007. He also served on the Board of Appeals and Sewer Rate Committee.
