LEWISTON — Larry Gilbert is expected to announce his plan to seek a third term as mayor at a rally Wednesday on the steps of City Hall.
Gilbert is scheduled to make his announcement at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday on the Pine Street side of the city building. He’ll move across Pine Street to the Lewiston Public Library if there’s rain.
Gilbert served five years as mayor, a longer term than any other under the city’s current charter.
He was elected to serve the final year of Lionel Guay’s term in 2005 and then elected to his own term in 2006. He was re-elected in 2008 and served until 2010.
Lewiston’s charter does not allow any mayor to serve more than two consecutive terms.
