HAMPDEN (AP) — Police have released the name of the Hampden man shot and killed by police after pointing a gun at officers.
Chief Joe Rogers said Monday that 21-year-old Cameron Arrigoni was fatally shot by 20-year police department veteran Chris Bailey.
Police were called to a home on Main Road South around 9 p.m. Sunday for reports of a suicidal man.
Rogers says officers entered the home because they thought someone else inside was in danger.
He says when officers entered, Arrigoni pointed a gun at them. Bailey opened fire, striking Arrigoni.
Per protocol, Bailey was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the state attorney general’s office.
