WILTON — Two women received minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Burgess Hill Saturday morning.

Sharon Nichols, 65, of Industry and Maxine Swett, 79, of Jay both received minor injuries and were taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by NorthStar Ambulance, police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.

Nichols was driving a 2008 Chevy Malibu west on Route 2 at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday when she attempted to move into the passing lane, Wilcox said.

Nichols did not see that a 2007 Ford Taurus, driven by Durwood Swett, 82, of Jay, was already in the lane, she said.

Nichols pushed Swett’s vehicle across the road’s two opposite lanes without striking any oncoming traffic, she said.

Both Nichols’ and Swett’s vehicles ended up on the opposite side of the four-lane highway. Both were damaged.

Durwood Swett and a passenger in Nichols’ car, Terry Nichols, 48, of Wilton, were not taken to the hospital.

Wilton police officer Ryan Richardson investigated the incident, and the Wilton Fire Department assisted at the scene.
