FARMINGTON — Police responded to a call about young people on a downtown roof early Saturday morning and charged a woman for furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol.
Police say Mercedes Freeman, 19, of Farmington was the apartment tenant at 164 Broadway, where police found that some underage guests had been drinking, Rachel Heseltine, Farmington police secretary, said.
The police had originally been called to 164 Main St., but discovered that the incident was actually in an apartment around the corner at 164 Broadway.
No one was on the roof when they arrived, but people at the scene said that they had been on the roof. They had used an access that is only an emergency exit, she said.
There appeared to be about 10 people in a police video taken at the apartment when officers responded at about 12:45 a.m., she said.
Freeman was released from Franklin County Detention Center Saturday on $3,000 unsecured bail. She is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 7.
