OXFORD — An early morning fire damaged a two-story, wood-frame cabin on Pit Road on Thursday.
No one was hurt, but an adult and two teenagers were home at the time and safely evacuated the home, which was built in the 1990s off Allen Hill Road.
According to Lt. Carl Van Nest, fire broke out in a basement room sometime before 5 a.m., spreading to furniture and other items.
Firefighters from Oxford, Norway and Paris responded to the call. Fire damage was contained to the basement but there was minor smoke and soot damage on the first floor.
Van Nest said the cause of the fire is believed to be electrical.
Firefighters from Mechanic Falls covered the Oxford Fire Station on Route 26. The scene was cleared shortly after 10 a.m.
