HARRISON — The Harrison Recreation Department’s 11th annual 5K Run by The Lake offered a T-shirt design contest for this year’s race T-shirts to all students at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. New this year, overseen by art teacher Cynthia Kugell and Miranda Murphy and Britta Anderson, 5K T-Shirt Crew working alongside her, proved to be a huge success. On June 5, the winner was announced by OHCHS Principal Theodore Moccia.
Winning artist was Gunnar Docos, a freshman from Harrison. Gunnar’s was chosen for his extremely detailed art work, an amazing and original design which included all four design requirements, and his very own design idea, which contributed to bringing on a very new, fun and exciting twist to the 5K this year.
Docos was awarded a $100 cash prize. His artwork will be seen on the race T-shirts at The Run by The Lake on July 10.
The race will be held at 7 p.m. rain or shine at 20 Front St. Race day registration will be from 5 to 6:45 p.m. at the Harrison Town Office. Cost is $18 after July 1, with $3 off for Harrison residents. T-shirts are free to the first 100 pre-registered runners.
