HARRISON — A local man was injured when the truck he was driving went off Lewis Road and hit a large tree Tuesday, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Capt. Don Goulet said.
Joseph Cash, 44, was flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with chest, leg, head and arm injuries. A nursing supervisor said Cash was in fair condition Wednesday night.
Goulet said in a news release that Cash was driving north in a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado registered to Marston’s Tree Service of Naples at about 5:30 p.m. when the truck crossed into the southbound lane, into the woods and struck a large tree.
Cash was not wearing a seat belt and struck the steering wheel and dashboard, Goulet said. He had injuries to his chest and leg, as well as cuts to his head and elbow, he said.
Cash was able to call 911. Harrison and Naples Fire/Rescue responded to the scene, which was just over the Naples town line, the captain said.
The truck was destroyed.
