NORWAY — He-Brews Coffeehouse will hold a free concert this weekend at the Oxford Fairgrounds off Pottle Road.

“We’re trying to bring our community closer together by this weekend’s event,” said Hope Bourne, who co-founded the He-Brews Coffeehouse with Randy Olson. Olson said they expect 500 to 1,000 attendees each day.

The three-day event begins at 6 p.m. Friday with the group Awaken and will wrap up Sunday with a worship service at 10:30 a.m. A number of worship bands from area churches and other performers will take the stage to celebrate the theme, United We Stand in Christ.

A local group of volunteers established the Christian coffeehouse to serve residents in need of help or simply someone to talk to. The group is renovating the former Snocraft building at 10 Tannery St. in downtown Norway as a permanent site.

This weekend’s concert will be held in a barn and the group is asking for donations only.

The concert will start at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, with a welcome by Troy and Hope Bourne of North Providence, R.I., followed by performers throughout the weekend. Hope Verrill Bourne is a lifelong resident of the Norway area who recently married Troy.
