New Auburn Seniors meet today
AUBURN — The New Auburn Seniors will meet at noon Wednesday, Oct. 2, at St. Louis Church.
The Harvest Dinner will be held at noon Wednesday, Oct. 16, at St. Louis Church. The cost is $5. Members only.
Members will begin meeting at Sacred Heart in November.
Legion plans steak sub meal
AUBURN — The William J. Rogers Post 153 Sons of American Legion will host a Columbus Day steak and cheese sub meal from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, at the post home, 71 South Main St.
Cost is $6 with a free bag of chips. It is NFL Sunday and the TVs will be on.
Christopher Columbus arrived in the Americas on Oct. 12, 1492. Many countries around the world celebrate it as an official holiday, including countries in Latin America, the Bahamas, Spain, Argentina, Belize and Uruguay.
“We celebrate and remember and are thankful for the discovery of the New World and have fought as a nation to preserve it,” said Paul R. Bernard, commander.
All proceeds benefits veterans and veteran programs.

Retired educators meet Oct. 9
LEWISTON — The October meeting of the Androscoggin Retired Educators will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the Green Ladle at Lewiston High School.
This is the annual scholarship auction. Bring items to be auctioned by 9:45 a.m. so they can be placed on the auction table. Items to be auctioned may include baked goods such as cookies, pies, brownies, bars, fudge, etc. Other items may include gift baskets, books, jewelry, crafts and more.
All retired educators and spouses are welcome. You need not have taught in Androscoggin County or even in Maine.

Sabattus Knights bean supper
SABATTUS — The Knights of Columbus of the Our Lady of the Rosary Parish are sponsoring a baked beans and casserole supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Our Lady of the Rosary, 131 High St.
Proceeds to benefit parish programs. Complete supper includes desserts and beverages. Contributions: $7.50 for adults, $3 for children under 12.
