PORTLAND — The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland will host the 2013 Journey Youth Retreat Friday through Sunday, Oct. 25 to 27, at St. Dominic Academy, 121 Gracelawn Road. The theme is “Fearless.”
“This is a Eucharistic-centered youth retreat that aims to lead teens into a relationship with Jesus Christ and engages them in the life of the church,” said Joe Mailhot, Youth & Young Adult Ministry coordinator for the Diocese of Portland. “The ‘Fearless’ theme will focus on common fears that prevent us from fully living our faith and giving our lives completely to God.”
Journey is an annual retreat that includes daily Mass, music, inspiring talks, food, Eucharistic Adoration, as well as group activities that are designed to excite young Catholics.
In 2012, nearly 300 attendees and 50 volunteers participated in the Journey Youth Retreat.
The cost is $85 a person through Oct. 18, though late registrations will be accepted at a $95 rate. The admission fee includes program materials, pilgrimage-style housing, all meals, snacks, beverages and a Journey T-shirt.
Participants are encouraged to register through their local parish, but parents can also register a child directly by contacting Joe Mailhot at 321-7813 or by e-mail at [email protected]. People interested in volunteering are also encouraged to contact Mailhot.
The retreat begins at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, and concludes with lunch at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27. All are welcome, but youth participants must be between the ages of 14 and 18 and enrolled in high school.
