AUBURN — A pregnant woman who was struck by a car in Auburn on Thursday was being treated later in the night at a Lewiston hospital.

At about 5 p.m., police said, the woman was attempting to cross the street near the corner of Turner and Court streets. She was struck by a car and suffered what appeared to be a broken leg.

The victim was said to be in her 20s. Her name was not immediately available Thursday night. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and there were no complications with her pregnancy, police said.

As police and rescue crews responded, commuter-hour traffic backed up on Court and Turner streets and on the Longley Bridge. Police briefly closed a section of Court Street as the victim was taken to the hospital.

No charges were filed. The accident remained under investigation.
