WILTON — A tree lighting, hot cocoa, bonfire and crafts will be offered during Wilton’s Winter Wonderland tonight, Friday, Dec. 13.

Sponsored by the Wilton Event Committee, a variety of activities are available from 5 to 7 p.m. in downtown Wilton, committee member Stacey Damon said.

It begins at KeyBank, where employees will serve hot cocoa, she said. A bonfire will be started between the bank and town monument.

The town tree will be lighted about 5:15 p.m.

Other activities include crafts for children and hot soup served to everyone at the Wilton Congregational Church. Across the street at the Wilton Free Public Library, children’s crafts are available.

Santa will visit and sit for photos at Damon Photography. Parents are welcome to bring their own cameras for photos. There is no charge, she said.

At Ray Ray’s Cafe, free treats will be served, she said. A dinner meal is also available at the cafe.

Other downtown businesses will be open and ready for people to stop in, Damon said.

Although the weather forecast sounds cold, “there are several indoor places people can go,” she said.

Nonperishable food items will be collected at Damon Photography for the Wilton Food Bank.

Local businesses have donated lights and decorations for Christmas trees located near Wilton Hardware. These will go to area families in need, she said.

The tree lighting and activities have taken place for several years. Last year was well attended with about 100 people stopping at KeyBank for a cup of hot chocolate, she said.
