FARMINGTON — A Wilton woman was injured Tuesday in a two-vehicle accident at a crosswalk on Main Street near Scott Hall at the University of Maine at Farmington.

Dennifer Osborne, 19, was riding with driver Herbert Mosher, 17, of Temple when the sun blinded his ability to see a vehicle stopped at the crosswalk, Farmington police officer Darin Gilbert said.

Mosher was driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am south on Main Street about 10:09 a.m. and couldn’t stop once he was able to see that the 2000 Chevy pickup driven by Russell Black, 60, of Wilton had stopped, Gilbert said.

Osborne was wearing a seat belt but had put the shoulder strap behind her neck, so it didn’t stop her from hitting the windshield, he said.

She was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by NorthStar Ambulance, he said. She complained of head and neck pain.

Mosher bit his tongue during the accident. Black was not injured, Gilbert said.

Black’s truck was not damaged. The car slid under the back, Gilbert said. Mosher’s car was towed from the scene by Farmington Towing.

Members of Farmington Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
