MINOT — Town Administrator Arlan Saunders told selectmen Tuesday that he was obtaining estimates for a few public works projects the town could consider doing next summer.

Saunders reported that Androscoggin Soil & Water Conservation District officials estimated that stream flows for the brook that passes under Goodwin Road at the sharp bend and dig by Ralph Palmer’s would require a 5- by 15-foot open-box culvert. He said he contacted American Concrete for a price.

The culvert on Verrill Road, in the dip not far from Woodman Hill Road, is rotting out, Saunders said. He figured it could possibly be replaced with a more conventional culvert.

Fire Chief Dean Campbell reported he submitted paperwork to American Tower asking permission for the town to install an antenna and repeater on its tower on Harris Road. He also discussed options that may be available.

Saunders also said he placed advertisements for bids for winter sand. Bids are due Sept. 15 for consideration at the board’s next meeting.

Highway Supervisor Scott Parker reported his crew installed driveway culverts and did considerable ditching on Grange Avenue. The crew is now ditching along the dirt portion of Death Valley Road.

He said road stripe painting will either be done later this week or next.

Residents who have checked their mail, Saunders said, likely will have found their tax bill for this year, with notice that payment is due by Jan. 15, 2015.

Selectman Eda Tripp, in her role as assessor, said there is still in excess of $100,000 in unpaid property taxes.
