AUBURN — Children ages 10 and older are invited by organizers of the Lake Auburn Half Marathon to help clean trash from the side of the roads circling Lake Auburn on Saturday in preparation for the Sept. 13 race.
Parents are invited to drive children and to supervise, but the actual trash collection will be done by children.
Each child will be supplied with garbage bags, plastic gloves and a safety vest.
In return for helping with the trash pickup, each child will be able to participate in the kids fun run held as part of the half-marathon Saturday, Sept. 13.
The trash collection will be done from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, and children should meet at the Police Activities League building, 24 Chestnut St.
