A Boston woman was arrested early Tuesday and charged with drug trafficking, after authorities detected pot smoke wafting from her vehicle on Route 26 in Gray, Sheriff Kevin Joyce wrote in a news release.

After a search of her vehicle,

, 36, was charged with aggravated trafficking, a Class A felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Tufts detected “a strong odor of marijuana emanating from within the vehicle,” Joyce said.

Tufts had pulled Barbosa’s vehicle over on Route 26 at about 3:50 a.m. for speeding. Tufts’ drug detection dog was used to search the vehicle. Tufts recovered roughly 900 Oxycontin pills packaged in small bags as well as a usable amount of marijuana, Joyce wrote.

In addition to the felony charge, Barbosa was summoned on charges of marijuana possession and speeding.

She was being held Tuesday afternoon at Cumberland County Jail in Portland in lieu of $20,000 cash bail. Her court date is set for Sept. 17.
