1946 – 2014

LEWISTON — Howard E. Corbett, 68, of West Paris, known as “Bud” to family and friends, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, at d’Youville Pavilion, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in West Paris on July 10, 1946, a son of William and Lois (Hollis) Corbett. He graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1964. He later attended the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, before working as a game warden and chief of police for the Penobscot Nation.

Bud was an extremely talented self-taught carpenter and worked for Yankee Construction Co. and the Auburn School Department, before later becoming self-employed as a general contractor.

On Sept. 10, 1971, he married Blanche Nicola.

He served in the Maine National Guard in the 133rd Engineer Battalion for 20 years. Bud loved animals, especially his own dogs, cats and horses. He was an extremely hard worker with a strong work ethic, who always had multiple projects going at the same time as he stayed physically active into his retirement years.

In later years, Bud loved working with his tractor and horses each day. He was a loyal friend who was always first to lend a helping hand. Bud enjoyed his daily visits to Mallard Mart in West Paris, where he loved to discuss politics and current events. Bud will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his sense of humor, the stories he shared and his straightforwardness.

Bud cherished his wife, children and grandchildren, and always worked hard to provide for them. His family will always remember his unconditional love, encouragement and constant support, qualities Bud admired in his father which he later instilled in his own family.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at d’Youville Pavilion and the many other medical providers who cared for Bud this past year.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Blanche; daughters, Andrea LaComb and husband, Joe, of Norway, Melanie Corbett and significant other, Darick Whitney, of South Paris and Darcie Rowell and husband, Troy, of South Paris; son, Howard Corbett and wife, Demi, of Orem, Utah; grandchildren, Grace LaComb, JT LaComb, Kassie Corbett, Samantha Lobozzo, Leslie Cox Jr., DJ Corbett Whitney, Sydney Rowell, Camden Rowell, Asia Bushman and Taio Bushman; one sister and two brothers; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
