RANGELEY — The Board of Selectmen heard Clyde Chapman Jr., president of the Oquossoc ATV Club, fill in details Tuesday on two proposed benefit rides for which the club had filed permit requests.

The rides are memorials to late club members, and both will benefit their families. The June 6 ride is in memory of Robin Delavalle and the July 11 ride is in memory of Robert Brown.

The fee to register for the rides is $10 per person. The route runs from Carry Road to Andover via Bald Mountain, with a return by the same route.

After questioning Chapman briefly about safety considerations, the board unanimously approved both permits.

The board approved the appointment of Ethna Thompson as registrar of voters, retroactive to Jan. 1 of this year, for a term to last two years or until a successor is found.

Interim Town Manager and Fire Chief Tim Pellerin said the Police Department reported one arrest for violation of parole terms, three speeding tickets and two tickets for parking in handicapped spaces since their last meeting. The Fire Department has answered seven calls since Jan. 1 — four for trees on power lines and three for snowmobile rescues.

Pellerin is working on a fireworks ordinance for the town, having received several complaints about noisy or unsafe fireworks since the holidays.
