LEWISTON — Young fiddler Owen Kennedy, age 9, of Winthrop, will be joined by other area folk musicians in a festive St. Patrick’s Day celebration at Governor’s Restaurant in Lewiston next Tuesday, March 17, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Billed as “The Sizzling Shamrocks,” the multi-age ensemble will entertain diners with a lively mix of Irish and French Canadian jigs and reels performed on banjo, mandolin, guitar, and spoons as well as multiple fiddles. Governor’s, in turn, has pledged to donate 10 percent of the proceeds from the restaurant’s food sales that evening to the Maine Folque Co-op, in order to support the organization’s youth music program which founded the Sizzling Shamrocks.
Governor’s Restaurant is located at 1185 Lisbon St. in Lewiston. More information is available by contacting Governor’s at 753-0173 or www.GovernorsRestaurant.com, or the Folque Co-op at www.MaineFolqueCo-op.com.
