MILLINOCKET — Maine State Police are investigating why an infant was found unresponsive at a Katahdin Avenue residence on Tuesday night, a spokesman said Thursday.
The 6-month-old child was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said he had no information on the boy’s condition.
The mother of the infant called for an ambulance Tuesday night. The Millinocket Fire Department ambulance took the boy to Millinocket Regional Hospital before LifeFlight transferred him, McCausland said.
“Detectives are talking with [the mother], other caregivers and medical personnel and monitoring [the child’s] condition,” McCausland said Thursday.
McCausland cautioned that state police investigate all untimely deaths, whether suspicious or otherwise.
