FAYETTE — Selectmen here are concerned that a short, temporary road constructed from the parking lot at Starling Hall to a logging operation on a private lot could become a dumping ground for trash.

Vice Chairman Jon Beekman said at Monday’s meeting that he wanted to see a few rocks placed at the entrance from the Starling Hall lot to the place where logging had taken place so people couldn’t drive through and leave trash. He added that since the town had allowed the logging equipment to go onto the lot, it had no obligation to maintain the open entrance once the logging had been completed.

Chairman Berndt Graf suggested having Town Manager Mark Robinson look into it. “If it’s a right of way, we don’t have a right to block it,” he said.

Beekman reiterated his concern, stating that the ground was so flat back there that it would be easy for a car to drive in if the entrance was left unblocked.

In other business, selectmen made the following municipal appointments:

-Dr. Leslie Harding as Health Officer
