PARIS — A Maine man charged with injuring his 1-month-old daughter last year has had charges against him reduced.
WLBZ-TV (http://on.wlbz2.com/1e0jcbv ) reported that 24-year-old Joshua Dodd of Paris was facing charges that included assault on a child under 6 years old.
Prosecutors dropped the assault charge and Dodd pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child. He was sentenced to one year deferred disposition, meaning charges will be dismissed if he abides by probation conditions. If he violates those conditions, he could face jail time.
Dodd told police last November that he lifted his daughter by her arms and used his fingers to push down on her stomach due to bowel complications. He told police he saw a doctor use the same technique and thought it was OK.
