FARMINGTON — A motorcycle crash on Routes 2 and 4 late Wednesday afternoon sent two riders from Quebec to the hospital.

Eric Menard, 44, and his passenger, Roxanne Menard, 13, of Deux-Montagnes Quebec, were taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by NorthStar ambulance, Farmington police officer Bridgette Gilbert said.

Eric Menard had a shoulder injury and Roxanne Menard complained of a leg and hip injury, Gilbert said.

The motorcycle Menard was driving struck the back of a car and toppled onto the roadway at about 4 p.m. on what is also known as Wilton Road, police said.

Sayward Sweetser, a Jim Martin Auto Sales employee, had stopped the company vehicle she was driving, a 2001 Subaru Outback, to make a left-hand turn into the auto sale lot.

Menard, traveling toward Farmington, came up behind her and struck the back of the vehicle while traveling at about 40 mph, police estimated.

Sweetser was taken by private vehicle to be medically examined, Gilbert said.

Two other motorcycles from Quebec were traveling with Menard but were not involved in the accident.

Members of Farmington Fire and Rescue, officers from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and Farmington Police Department arrived to help at the scene.
