JAY — The Jay Village Water District has put out another boil-water order after a new Main Street line break not long after a previous boil order was lifted.

At the time of this new break, the district received word from the laboratory in Augusta that the previous boil order issued on Friday could be lifted.

Only those customers who lost water on Saturday afternoon need to boil it. The water line broke Saturday afternoon near the Hair Doctor on Main Street. A crew is working on the repairs and hopes to have the water back on soon.

Superintendent Mike Wells said approximately 20 customers from Main Street near The Hair Doctor to Route 140 and up to (but not including) Smith Street should boil water for one minute before consumption. That includes water that they plan to drink, use to brush their teeth and make ice cubes. After the water is boiled, it can be kept in the refrigerator.

The district is required to bring samples to a laboratory in Augusta to be tested for E.coli and coliform bacteria. The district will make an announcement when customers can stop boiling water.

Real-time updates will be posted on the water district website at www.jaywaterdistrict.com.
