Phil ‘n the Blanks will perform from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19. There will be no cover charge. Imagine a world in which Johnny Cash and Lorde have a baby, and you have a pretty good idea of Phil n’ the Blanks’ sound. Known for their pure harmonies and inventive melodies, Phil ‘n the Blanks pleases audiences from Bath to Naples to Scarborough with their popular cover tunes and catchy originals. American influences, from Janis Joplin and Tom Petty to One Republic and the Black Keys, drive their sound as much as their chunky rhythm guitar and sweet lead lines. It’s their ability to capture complex harmonies on songs from artists like Jason Mraz, Billy Joel and Creedence Clearwater Revival that set them apart from other acts. Both trained in “serious” music, the grooving, heartfelt duo brings nothing but good times to the stage. Each has a long history in music and performing, having studied and performed with instruments of all kinds since elementary school. Their experience is as vast as their influences. While Phil and Emily have been singing together for years, most notably in the band Good Time People, Phil ‘n the Blanks was formed as a duo in 2014.
