Auburn City Council members were urged not to attempt a “pocket veto” of the proposed recycling ordinance amendment after they declined to remove it from the table at a special meeting Wednesday. The council’s action raised the possibility that the issue might not go to the voters for eight months or more, by which time some of the language in the amendment would be moot. The move provoked objections from supporters of the amendment, as well as by some residents who said they were neutral on the issue but felt it should be allowed to go to a vote.
