PORTLAND (AP) — Police say a Maine man accused of impersonating a police officer and demanding woman perform sex acts on him used his dead father’s badge, who was once a police chief.
Portland police arrested 57-year-old Gary Mariner of Lyman last Thursday and charged him with gross sexual assault and impersonating a public servant.
The Portland Press Herald reported (http://bit.ly/1RrYm3A ) a detective said Mariner showed his father’s Cape Elizabeth police badge to a 25-year-old prostitute in September, telling her it wasn’t her lucky day.
He allegedly then said he was called out of retirement to work for a special prostitution unit, drove her to a Concord bus station, pulled a pistol out and demanded she perform a sex act on him.
Mariner faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
