LIVERMORE — Selectpersons on Monday hired Raymond Castonguay as a part-time plow driver and are looking for a few more.

Castonguay is only available weekends.

A second applicant for plow driver is on hold pending a physical.

Administrative Assistant Carrie Castonguay said she advertised for temporary plow drivers and received five or six applications. She and road foreman Gerald Whitney reviewed them and planned to recommend two of them to the board, but one has found employment elsewhere and another is only available weekends.

Selectperson Timothy Kachnovich said the town probably should advertise again.

Selectperson Megan Dion suggested having a pool of people to call on if needed.

Castonguay will readvertise for part-time plow drivers. Anyone interested is asked to call her at the Town Office at 207-897-3207.

Whitney said he is not panicking over the lack of part-time plow drivers. “We can do this, but it is going to take more time,” he said. In prior years, the town has had four or five people to call on for part-time plowing, but those people are no longer available.

Whitney said he would like to have more people available during prolonged storms.

Also Monday, selectpersons accepted the resignation of maintenance worker Dan Boothby who was hired in June 2012. He also filled in at the Highway Department.

Whitney was hired in November after road foreman Roger Ferland resigned. Benjamin Campbell was hired after Highway Department employee Randy Tirrell resigned this fall.
