LANG TOWNSHIP — Operator inexperience and speed were factors in a snowmobile crash that injured a Boston man over the weekend, Maine Warden Service Cpl. John MacDonald wrote in a news release Wednesday.
Jerome Gangitano, 50, was riding on ITS 89 northeast of Rangeley on Saturday afternoon when his sled failed to make a curve and struck trees, MacDonald said. The 2015 Ski Doo snowmobile was demolished.
MacDonald said Gangitano sustained a head injury and was transported by North Star Ambulance and Rangeley Fire and Rescue to Rangeley Airport. LifeFlight of Maine transported him to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. He was released from the hospital Tuesday.
