FARMINGTON – A Franklin County Sheriff’s Office corrections officer and deputy were honored Friday for their dedication and service to the county.
Felicia Floyd of Jay was named the 2015 Corrections Office of the Year and Cpl. Matthew Brann of New Vineyard was recognized as 2015 Deputy of the Year. He was also recognized as Deputy of the Quarter.
Floyd has been a full-time officer since October 2014. She works in the control room and is acutely aware of where corrections officers are at all times, Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said. When she is not inside she is outside checking to make sure everything is secure.
When the jail returned to full-service operations in April 2015, Floyd pitched in to help her supervisor, who did not have an assistant at the time, and took control of all issues that arose and has a very can-do attitude, Nichols said.
Through her teamwork, intelligence and dedication to the mission of the Franklin County Detention Center she is most deserving to be recognized as the 2015 Officer of the Year, he said.
Brann has worked full-time for the county since 2009. He worked as a part-time deputy prior to that. He was promoted to corporal in October 2015.
Brann continuously steps up to help out, Lt. David Rackliffe said. He also has continuously worked to make sure the morale of the deputies is up and positive, he said.
Brann is also involved in training efforts.
His competency, sincerity, patience, teamwork, intelligence, honesty and dedication to the mission of the Sheriff’s Office was also recognized.
