LEWISTON — Author talk by Colby College Anthropology professor Catherine Besteman about her book: “Making Refuge: Somali Bantu Refugees and Lewiston, Maine,” 6:30 p.m., Lewiston Public Library. Program will include conversation about Besteman’s work and the local Somali Bantu community with Muhidin Libah and Rilwan Osman.

LEWISTON — Lewiston City Council budget workshop special meeting and public hearing in the City Council Chambers on the bottom floor of City Hall. The budget workshop is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. The special meeting and budget hearing — including the proposed school budget — begins at 7 p.m.

LEWISTON — “I Am Tree,” Tree Street Youth fundraising event to support programs and highlight youth talent, 5:30-8 p.m., Bates Mill Atrium.
