WILTON — A Farmington driver received minor injuries after police say she fell asleep and collided with an oncoming car Sunday afternoon on Route 133.
Vanessa Richards, 18, was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by a NorthStar ambulance after her vehicle crossed the center line, struck the oncoming car, spun out, slid across the road, rolled over and landed in a ditch, Wilton officer Brian Lynch, said.
Richards was driving a 2009 Pontiac south, towards Jay, just before 2 p.m. when she collided with a 2003 Volvo station wagon heading north, towards Farmington, he said.
The Volvo was driven by Frederick Psolka, 79, of Dillsburg, Pa. His wife, Gisela, 78, was a passenger. Neither was injured, he said.
The accident happened on a sharp curve south of McCrillis Corner, Lynch said.
Members of Wilton Fire and Rescue and officers from Farmington Police Department and Maine State Police assisted at the scene.
