BRIDGTON — Roland Simard is guest artist for the season at Gallery 302, 112 Main St.
His work will be on display until June 17. There will be a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 3. The reception will be preceded by a demonstration of his creative process at 4:15 p.m.
Simard processes natural materials such as alpaca and cotton in a paper beater, then makes colored images with the pulp as his intuition demands. The pulp remains in the water during the entire process, allowing the fibers to interweave to form an entire sheet.
Simard has a degree in fine art and art education from Plymouth State University in Plymouth, N.H. He currently teaches art at Berlin High School in Berlin, N.H.
His art is acclaimed throughout the U.S. and his pulp paintings hang in many museums and private collections.
Gallery 302 is open from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
