GRAY (AP) — Officials say a small fire at an assisted living facility prompted the early Monday morning evacuation of 22 residents.
The Portland Press Herald reported (http://bit.ly/1Vq6tCn ) that staff used fire extinguishers to put out the small fire that was contained to one room.
Bonnie Lee, the administrator of Gray Manor Residential Care on Route 100, says no one was injured. She said the fire started at about 4:30 a.m. Monday in a resident’s room. Residents were allowed to return about two hours later. In the interim, they stayed at the American Legion hall next door.
Lee said she didn’t know what caused the fire.
Fire officials are investigating.
