Mallett returns to the theater at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13. In a career spanning four decades, he has recorded 14 albums and had several hundred covers of his songs, including the American folk classic “Garden Song.” He has performed across the U.S., Canada and Europe.

Known for his carefully written, poetic offerings, his body of work has provided material for an eclectic list of artists that includes Alison Krauss, Pete Seeger, Hal Ketchum, Emmylou Harris, John Denver and The Muppets. Tickets are $30 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

Buckwheat Zydeco is scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18. Bringing the unique sound of Zydeco into the musical mainstream, the band released the first major label Zydeco album in 1987: Island Records’ “On A Night Like This.” Buck was recently profiled in a 10-minute feature by Scott Simon on National Public Radio’s “Weekend Edition Saturday.”

The band has appeared six times on “Late Night With David Letterman,” and on TV news shows. Tickets are $35 for adults and $30 for students and seniors.

EVA, featuring voices with roots in Australia, Ireland, the United Kingdom and the U.S., performs a seamless mix of traditional and contemporary original folk music. Kath Buckell, Liz Simmons and Nicole Zuraitis lend their three distinct voices to songs that meld worldly sensibilities with time-honored musical traditions.

The Novel Jazz Septet, featuring the music of American jazz composers Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3. The band will highlight well-known tunes, plus rare, vintage gems, recently unearthed from original scores at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.

The septet’s members hail from Portland, Belfast, Northport, Newcastle, Gardiner, Augusta and Waterville. They travel far and wide to keep the spirit of Duke and Sweet Pea alive and swinging. Tickets are $20 for adults and $18 for students and seniors.
