RANGELEY — The fifth Rangeley Trail Town Festival will take place Friday and Saturday, Sept. 2 and 3.

Friday Night Film Festival is from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rangeley Inn, with films selected by the Maine Outdoor Film Festival Organization. There will be free snacks. Admission is by suggested donation of $5, or $2 for Appalachian Trail hikers and for children younger than 12.

There will be free games, music and exhibits from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 3 at Haley Pond Park on Pond Street.

Games will include “mini-Rogaine or “trivia orienteering,” where people learn outdoor skills during this scavenger hunt-like event.

Attendees can enter a raffle to win outdoor equipment, such as clothing and day packs. They can visit the exhibit on the history of Main Street at the Rangeley Historical Society Museum. They can also try their luck in the Ice Cream Eating Contest, sponsored by Gifford’s Ice Cream. Event is free to AT hikers, $2 for everyone else. Later, there will be a marshmallow roast around the campfire.

Singer-songwriter Denny Breau will entertain from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and again from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Born to popular country performers Hal Lone Pine and Betty Cody, he began playing guitar when he was 9 and was playing professionally by his early teens.
