TURNER — Leavitt came out strong and pressured the Morse defense early, scoring twice in the first half and finishing with a 4-0 victory in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.
Allie Belaire scored the first goal of the game five-and-a-half minutes into the contest and assisted on the next two for the Hornets (2-0). Kaitlyn Leclerc contributed a goal and an assist for Leavitt.
Goalie Sophie Wilson made six saves for the Shipbuilders (1-1), while goalie Hailey Demascio turned back three shots to earn the win in net for Leavitt.
Boys’ soccer
Richmond 5, Rangeley 1
RANGELEY — Senior forward Brady Johnson and freshman midfielder Justin Vachon pocketed a pair of goals each as Richmond sailed to a 5-1 victory over Rangeley in EWC boys’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.
The Bobcats (1-0) jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead.
Sophomore midfielder Nathan Van Buren netted the lone Laker (0-1) goal in the second half.
Goalie Hunter Lowell made six saves for Rangeley, while goalie Isaac Cappen turned away three to earn the win in net for Richmond.
Girls’ soccer
Fryeburg 3, St. Dom’s 1
FRYEBURG — Kalie Eastman scored two goals, one in each half, as Fryeburg grabbed a 3-1 victory over St. Dom’s in girls’ soccer action Friday afternoon.
The Saints (0-1) scored their lone goal in the second half on a conversion from Avery Lutrzykowski to Kristina Cornelio and into the back of the net.
Goalies Dominique Michaud and Abby Castonguay combined for six saves for St. Dom’s, while goalie Makayla Cooper only needed to make one save for the Raiders (1-0) in the winning effort.
Richmond 12, Rangeley 0
RANGELEY — Senior forward Merander Martin netted four goals as Richmond blanked Rangeley 12-0 in EWC girls’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.
The Bobcats dominated on offense, taking an 8-0 halftime lead. Destiny Anair contributed three assists for Richmond.
Goalie Amber Morrill made five saves for the Lakers, while goalie Sydney Tilton prevented 16 for Richmond in the winning effort.
Gray-New Gloucester 1, York 0
YORK — Hannah Dixon scored the game’s lone goal as Gray-New Gloucester slipped past York 1-0 in girls’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.
The Patriots (1-0) found the back of the net in the second half when Dixon converted a relay from Izzy DeTroy.
Goalie Anna Baker made one save for the Wildcats (0-1), while goalie Sydney Rodrigues staved off eight shots to earn the win in net for Gray-New Gloucester.
Women’s soccer
Wellesley 3, UMaine-Farmington 1
FARMINGTON — Wellesley scored three times in the late going to dispatch the University of Maine at Farmington 3-1 in women’s soccer action Saturday afternoon.
Ashley Gelason scored the first goal of the season for the Beavers (0-1) in the 66th minute. Bridget Humphrey tapped a pass to Gleason on the right side of the box and Gleason fired a shot into the top left corner of the net.
The Blue (2-0) answered six minutes later with a breakaway goal from Carley Phillips. Wellesley added two more goals in the final 10 minutes: one from Kyla Petrie on a penalty kick andan insurance goal by Maddie Carlborg in the 84th minute.
Goalie Kiana Thompson made 10 saves for Farmington, while goalie Olivia Reckly stopped five shots for Wellesley to pick up the victory.
Women’s field hockey
UMaine-Farmington 9, Framingham State 0
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — Emmah Spahr recorded a hat trick with three goals in the first half as the University of Maine cruised to a 9-0 victory over Framingham State in women’s field hockey action Saturday afternoon.
The Beavers’ (1-0) offense kept the ball rolling in the second half when Spahr adding her fourth goal of the contest. Janessa Talarico of Lewiston continued the scoring spree as Farmington hit from all angles.
Patty Smith picked up the win in goal with a pair of saves for Farmington.
